I did something like this with a small spiral notebook when I took my first trip to Italy, but it wasn’t so detailed… I never thought to include maps, and some of the other items you included!

Quick question–how many pages do you allocate per day/city/stop? I’m hoping to take a 3-month trip next year, and I want to make sure that I have a journal with enough room for the travel info AND journal entries–though I may need a separate journal for journal entries. (I write a LOT. On the train from Venice to Florence, a woman had her daughter ask me if I was writing a book! And then she asked me if I wanted a job as a nanny, her kids liked me so much. But I digress…)

A tip that may come in handy, and may make this a little easier… you can by sticker paper at any office supply store. That’s what I would use for maps, etc. It’s self-adhesive, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally gluing pages together.

I also included google map screenshots of directions from airport to hostel, hostel to train station, etc. (which was literally a lifesaver when we got lost!)

I was going to just staple together the pages and pages of itinerary, documents, numbers, etc… but this is a much better idea! I will start making mine tomorrow!

Thanks for the comment, Holly. I also love the process of creating the journal. It feels good to have all your important information in one spot.

I make them for all my trips. My first trip I started with a large spiral bound notebook but I soon switched over to small moleskins. They are perfect! I’m a chick so I also decorate with stickers and pictures and stuff hahahaha. It’s fun to make them during the planning stages and it’s great to keep all your info organized in one place!
