I’ve found the layout pretty much perfect for my purposes, there’s enough room to fit everything I need inside, and on the outside there’s a small narrow pocket on the front end for my sunglasses and a stretchy one on the back end for a water bottle or umbrella. Also there’s a zipper pocket on the flat side against the body large enough for maps, a guidebook, or a light cardigan for easy access on mine – I take it not in the 100 size since it’s mentioned in the review?
I do believe the clip on the top zipper works, since it’s not loose, but actually takes a lot of the weight of the bag – it would be hard for anyone to get it open sneakily.
I took it to Asia for 6 weeks this summer, and it was perfect. It’s definitely coming with me on my next trip!

I have this style and the sling version in the 100 size. Both in black. The smaller one is great for evening or when I want to travel light. Love the zipper clips too. I agree that it would be nice to have an outer pocket for maps and non-valuables.
