Temperature ranges would help.

I have been seriously considering backpacking in winter to avoid the crazy mobs and horrible long lines, and i had been wondering about how to stay warm with out bring a big thick winter coat, because i may not be able to fit it in my backpack. But i do have one question though. Are there base layers made specifically for different necklines, like a v-neck sweater or something with wide shoulder? My only concern is that the long underwear will be visable with different shirts. Do you know if there are base layers with different necklines?
