I’ve been wearing relatively pricey Asics and Brooks athletic style shoes but have been having considerable pain in my heels and lower back. Being overweight doesn’t help but I’m hoping someone might have a suggestion as to a shoe or perhaps insole that will help alleviate the pain. Standing/walking for an hour on concrete/stone has me wanting to have a seat. Thanks!

Wearing comfortable shoes if your are going to travel, or if you have a long flight is a must. It is for you and for your feet to be relaxed on the whole flight.

I wear orthotics and used to wear New Balance shoes. Then I discovered SALOMONS- orthotics fit fine. My feet feel secure with good support. I traveled around the world in them- never a blister. The quick laces are great- especially when taking shoes off and on at airports. I had the Pro GTX.

They saved my feet traveling all through France and Turkey last year. Can not stress enough how awesome they are. Designed by a Podiatrist and they really do look cool! Not grandma!

I have to wear orthotics but it seems people like me don’t count when it comes to shoe fitting.

I’m having a really hard time choosing which shoes to bring with me. I’m going to Ireland, Scotland, England and France in early May and staying until the first week of June so I expect there to be a fair amount of rain. I would like to have something waterproof but would rather not bring aesthetically displeasing hiking shoes/boots. Do you have any suggestions for comfortable, fashionable, waterproof alternatives? Thanks in advance!

Those look great! Do you think Dr. Martens would be a suitable boot? With basic black base layer tights, they would be fashionable and also durable, in the event you want to go bar hopping 🙂
