I don’t know if you eventually did the trip, but if you didn’t, January to March is definitely cold. Not every single day, but most are. On the good side, it doesn’t rain very much.

Am doing White Christmas with 11 yr old Nov 17 through Jan 18. I want to do a lot of travel by train as we are making our way from Istanbul through to Budapest, then onto Koln for markets and architecture and then through to Malta for Christmas/New Year, before slowly travelling back up through Italy and France. I don’t know whether to buy tickets for sleepers on ground or before I go. Any information would be much appreciated.

Would it be cold the entire time? Does that sound like a good idea?

I’m trying to put together some journeys for travelling Europe off-season, you guys obviously have a bit of experience! What would your thoughts be on suggesting a route or two? `You guys would be credited with the journey obviously and there would be a description about you with links to your website and social media. I’m happy to chat some more and answer any questions if you want! Please let me know either way!

I would like to ask you where is a good distance to stay around to be close enough to the attractions, but also a peaceful place. Also, would I need to stay in different places overnight when going from city to city? Or is transportation to and from cities easy, accessible , and reasonably prices?

Thank you,
I love this page, it has Ben very helpful

We’re having a hard time deciding between the Spring Shoulder season and the Autumn Shoulder season. We’re all from generally rainy/snowy places, so cold/rainy weather wouldn’t necessarily be an issue. Suggestions?

northern Europe will be cold and sometimes rainy but October is a wonderful time to go. Nov it starts to get really cold. Just pack well with warm clothing and bring an umbrella or some sort of plastic tarp.

yes but it will be extremely hot. Europe in August – Ireland and England will be the coolest, Paris will be unbearably hot but don’t miss it. i would try to stick to coasts in Spain, South of France, Italy etc where you can also swim in the ocean. The beaches are beautiful.

Thanks much!
