I hope I picked the middle of the road concept for my trip. I will be in Italy for two weeks and am not going to any other country. 3 days in Rome, 3 days in Naples, 3 days in Venice, 2 days in Florence and a stop in Sienna for 2 days and a day and a half in Cinque Terre. I intially crammed more into my itinerary but parsed it down and put in for “down time” to do nothing and figured time to make mistakes or run late. But if I sleep in till mid morning with travel time between destinations I won’t get much done. This isn’t a vacation to chill. I limited myself to Italy on this particular trip but hope to take several more trip to Europe in the next few years. But I will confine myself to a region on each trip. Next I hope to go to the British Isles. A next trip to Greece and Turkey. Then to Southern Germany and Austria.

I definitely had the mindset of traveling to as many cities as possible for my 3 week backpacking trip and spending an average of 2 days in each city and one day in some. So glad my friend convinced me to do 3 full days for each city. I’m sure it will be more worth it!

The main reason why people come back home very tired after a trip is being on a hurry. Many people instead of enjoying the new city or place, taking their time and relaxing, just try to do and see as much as possible. And such trip becomes a challenge instead of being relaxed and giving their schedule flexibility.

I am a savvy planner as well and I do not mind spending hours doing research before going anywhere. I think it helps a lot to save time when travelling since everything I need to know will be in one place vs looking it up when it situation. I plot my maps, research points of interests, prebook hotels/airbnb, write all restaurant/bar/cafe choices in the area, I would love to start my own travel blog but I haven’t travelled much. I am planning a Europe trip with my husband in May and I’ve been reading tips in your blog! We have limited vacation days so 12 days will be max. I was thinking 3nights in London, 1 night in Rouen, 3nights Paris, 2 nights Brussels, 2 nights Amsterdam. Is this too rushed? We are also on moderate budget so accommodation and transportation can add up. I would love to hear suggestions as well! Thank you, Karla
